Chicago-based interior designer Alessandra Branca
invited Architectural Digest into her Harbour Island home
, and we are . . . jealous. With chic, yet laid-back and island-appropriate furnishings, bright pops of color, and beachy -- but not kitschy -- styling, the vacation home is the perfect place for the designer and her family to escape the trials and tribulations of city life.
Branca designed the home incorporating local materials like coral stone floors and pecky cyprus walls, but the main focus was to create a comfortably chic space to welcome guests. "The environment has to suit the lifestyle you're trying to establish," Branca told the mag. "This house is about the play of high and low, elegance and informality. We'll have dinner parties, and half the group shows up barefoot." So, umm, when can we score an invite to one of these parties?
