Inside a French Country Home With Worldly Style

Julia Millay Walsh

After spending more than 20 years in London, French designer André Dubreuil decided to relocate to a 17th-century family estate in France, which was recently featured in AD Decoration. Instead of moving into the property’s castle, chapel, or various other outbuildings, he set his sights on the hay barn. Why? Because it was more convenient—and easier to heat in the winter. The barn’s beautiful wood floors and lofty beamed ceilings may have also had an impact on his decision. Filling the space with collectibles from his travels to Africa, China, and beyond, as well as eBay scores like masks, ancient statues, and figurines, he created a worldly vibes that’s quite magical when you stumble upon it. His green Gaggenau kitchen cabinetry is also quiet arresting. Scroll below for the tour.
