The Best Times of Year to Visit Hawaii, London, L.A., and More
Most of us travel lovers follow commonly held beliefs like It's best to book airfare on Tuesdays, It's best to travel on Wednesdays, and January is the least expensive month to travel. But only true travel insiders know when to go where for maximum enjoyment and minimum drain on the purse-strings. Travel + Leisure just published "The Cheapest Places to Travel for Each Month of the Year," and we're swooning over the possibilities. Scroll through for our top travel picks of the year.
After the festive season winds down, Hawaii's astronomical prices take a deep dive. Book a trip to Honolulu during the month of February and you'll see up to a 40% dip in hotel rates.
In January, hotel rates in Los Angeles drop 33%, so take the opportunity to travel to the Golden State for 72-degree days in the middle of winter.
While London is always an expensive city, average hotel rates drop to $216 after May Day, the bank holiday that lands on May 2 this year.
Copenhagen is filled with tourists from May through October, but if you visit in April, you can enjoy 38% off hotel rates while still avoiding the absurdly cold Nordic winter.
Travel + Leisure calls Flagstaff, Arizona, "the gateway to the Grand Canyon." March is beautiful time to visit this gorgeous landscape, especially because the weather is just cool enough to ward off tourists. Plus hotel rooms are about $100 less expensive than peak season during this month.
