Billy Joel's Nate Berkus-Designed Home Gets a Price Cut
We don't know anyone who wouldn't want to live in a Nate Berkus-decorated home, but then again, we don't know Billy Joel. The piano man is intent on it, having recently chopped the price of his 5,550-square-foot, four-bedroom, six-bath Hamptons home from $22.9 million to $19.95 million.
On one acre in Sagaponack, NY, the ocean-front, cedar-shingled home was originally built for the late actor Roy Scheider in 1994 and was sold to Joel in 2009. In addition to panoramic ocean views, it boasts 145 feet of sandy beach, an inverted floor plan (with the kitchen and living rooms upstairs), exposed beam, A-frame ceilings, a state-of-the-art kitchen (Wolf, Miele, and Sub-Zero appliances), a butler's pantry, a two-car garage, a one-bedroom guest suite, and an oceanfront pool permit.
Decorated by Nate Berkus, the interiors feature an eclectic mix of classic American furniture, contemporary light fixtures, and cool beachy colors. We're captivated by the beach house's beautiful kitchen with its dark-grout subway tiles, expansive butcher's block countertop, industrial lighting, and chrome-and-leather bar stools. The master bedroom isn't too shabby either with an en-suite bath with a freestanding zinc tub and flawless ocean blues. Perhaps Joel should get his temperature checked: we'd never give this place up.
