This Genius Device Lets You Charge Your Tech With a Plant
Unsightly plugs and cords begone. The future of household tech is now, and it's looking green. A Barcelona-based firm called Arkyne Technologies has created Bioo Lite, a sleek white pot that magically produces electricity from the potted plant's natural photosynthesis processes. Cool, right?
If you paid attention during grade school science, you'll know that photosynthesis uses sunshine to turn carbon dioxide and water into oxygen and other crucial organic compounds. This is where the Bioo comes into play: According to Yahoo Tech, "Bacteria in the pot breaks up the compounds, releasing electrons that travel along nanowires. The resulting electricity powers a typical USB port (disguised as a cute little pebble), where you can plug in your phone or tablet cable."
Good for up to three charges a day, the Bioo Lite works with most houseplants, save cacti, which have less natural photosynthesis activity. And yes, you need a happy living plant to charge your phone, so better work on that green thumb of yours.
Are you excited about the Bioo Lite?
