Blake Lively Gets Real About Pregnancy and Being a Mom

Sophie Miura

At face value, actress Blake Lively seems like a picture-perfect Hollywood mom. After all, she's married to People's Sexiest Man Alive, has an adorable daughter named James, stars in the new film The Shallows, and manages to look impossibly glamorous on the red carpet while pregnant with baby number two. Yes, you'd be forgiven for feeling a bout of jealousy toward the 28-year-old, but in an interview with Jimmy Fallon, Lively proves she's just as real and down-to-earth as the rest of us.

While she often looks fresh and glowing when snapped by the paparazzi in Manhattan, Lively says the reality is completely different. "It should be illegal to be pregnant in New York in July," she told the Tonight Show host. "I'm going to make my water break just to cool down."

In a candid chat, Lively also shared her struggles with pregnancy, saying that people rarely want to hear the truth about how difficult and uncomfortable the process is. "Everybody says 'how are you feeling?' but they don't really want to hear how you're feeling," she says. "They don't want you to complain."
