The wellness world can be an intimidating one—between a full-time job and staying (somewhat) social, there’s barely time to hit the grocery store, let alone ferment your own food. The good news is that you can still lead a healthy life without adopting an entirely different lifestyle. MindBodyGreen recently shared a few wellness hacks that (surprisingly) won’t overwhelm you. Take note of easy tips even the busiest woman can tackle below.

Lose the Shoes

Keep bacteria like E. coli and meningitis, which can travel on the soles of your shoes, out of your home by going barefoot. A University of Arizona study found that your footwear can also carry the bacteria behind intestinal and urinary tract infections, meningitis, and diarrheal disease. Don’t let disease in your door; instead, kick off your shoes before you enter.

Cut Carbs (Without Realizing It)

Open-face sandwiches and bun-less burgers still pack the same tasty flavor but prevent you from piling up calories on carbohydrates. Cutting your carb intake in half doesn’t require you to change your entire diet. Instead, skip just one slice of bread. (Note: A slice of wheat bread has around 78 calories and 14.3 grams of carbohydrates.)

Keep Your Balance

Fortunately, the easiest way to alkalize and balance your body is actually enjoyable: lemon water. Lemons naturally purify and detoxify the system by flushing toxins. Drinking water with lemon can also aid in digestion. It’s as simple as squeezing the juice from half a lemon into a large (eight-ounce) glass of water each morning and refilling the glass throughout the day to help with hydration.
