Here’s What American Coffee Culture Is Missing

Genevieve Fish

"All Ethiopians are proud of their coffee." This is the opening line of this video about the Ethiopian coffee ceremony—a ritual that is performed approximately three times per day as a way to socialize with friends and family. To make coffee in the Ethiopian style, you must wash and roast the beans. Then the coffee ceremony performer walks around with the roasting beans in the pan to let everyone smell the deliciousness. Only then can the final coffee preparation and serving be finished. Watch the video and start making your coffee Ethiopian style.

Cheers to attempting to be that mindful the next time you have a cup of coffee. Shop our favorite coffeemakers below.
