Our Favorite Kitchens of 2015
This year was ripe with some of the most impeccable kitchen style we've ever seen. Some people chose to keep the heart of their home earthy and minimal, others went for dark and dramatic. Still others incorporate metallics and bold pops of color. We've curated a selection of our absolute favorites. Scroll through to take a look and pick your own top kitchen contenders.
Photographer Kelly Klein's Palm Beach home is a meditation on the beauty of simplicity. "I knew in my mind how I wanted to live here—in an indoor-outdoor house, enjoying the breeze off the water, with the family always together," Klein tells Architectural Digest. We think this indoor-outdoor kitchen is flawless.
This stunning black-and-gold Australian home, designed by Fiona Lynch, was inspired by Scandinavian design. We love how its black cabinetry and other accents add a graphic punch to the neutral base of white stone, timber, and light leathers. Bringing a bit of reflective warmth, as well as a decidedly glam vibe, are touches of modern gold and polished brass throughout, juxtaposing gorgeously with the traditional home’s ornate original features.
This New York home is filled with unique touches. We love the kitchen's open shelving, crystal chandelier, and dark blue cabinets. It's a refreshing take on so many of the kitchen trends we love. The incorporation of live plants in the kitchen breathes even more movement and life into the space.
Jewelry designer Amanda Thomas and her husband pat worked together to create their romantic abode in the Pacific Palisades. “I wanted our home to feel airy and light but still very modern and not too beachy,” says Thomas of the bluff-adjacent property, which overlooks the beach.
Erin Foster’s simple, elegant kitchen is ideal for entertaining. With its bountiful counter space and large fridge, it looks like it’s begging to host a dinner party. We love the juxtaposition of dark hardwood floors with light cabinets and a white subway-tile backsplash.
The décor of this French kitchen makes you want to play with ingredients and invent new recipes. We love how the pendant lamp looks like an upside-down cupcake wrapper. The vibe is a wonderful mix of contemporary and vintage, creating a space that feels at once fresh and nostalgic.
Renowned Parisian interior architect Jean-Louis Deniot redefines tropical chic in his Corsica home. Rather than dabble with the rustic bohemian styles we often associate with laid-back beach décor, Deniot created a refined, low-key yet entirely luxe vibe—i.e., his signature ocean-style look. The open-air kitchen and floating art piece add to the originality of his style. We love the asymmetrical placement of the dining table.
Australian design firm Altereco is behind this stunning and warm Melbourne abode. Filled with a sharp and distinctive juxtaposition of warm woods and cool metallics, it seamlessly marries organic influences with a sleek modern voice. Our definition of perfection is this: Metallic pendant lights spotlight a white marble countertop in a beautifully wooden kitchen.
When your kitchen involves a gallery wall, midcentury chairs, and a massive bookshelf, it earns a spot on our top kitchens list. Designed by Oscar Properties, this home oozes minimalist drama. Its inky black palette is perfectly balanced by the natural light that pours in through the large windows and the lofty ceilings.
This French family residence is what we dream domestic life to be like. Designed by Royal Roulette, the home is a masterpiece composed of gorgeous wallpapers, tiles, hardwood floors, and moldings. We love the black backsplash in the otherwise bright kitchen. It's such an unexpected punch of style. The graphic floor is the perfect interlude between the light wood floors of the home and the black-and-white kitchen.
Actress Constance Zimmer and her husband have one of the happiest homes we’ve seen. Bright pattern and curated pops of color make this well-lit pad a bubble of positive vibes. We love how it’s full of beautifully styled mementos from their life together—look at that “flavor” sign above the stove.

Actress Sasha Alexander’s kitchen is the definition of domestic bliss. From the warm wood cabinets and upholstered barstools to the industrial pendant lamps and mosaic backsplash, we're drooling over the details.
