Best of the Best: Our Favorite Rooms of the Year
We've had the privilege to visit and shoot some incredible homes this year, from Chiara Ferragni's Los Angeles space to Fall Out Boy's hip family abode and actor Michaela Conlin's eclectic home. While we don't usually play favorites, there were some standout rooms from these home tours that deserve the spotlight. Scroll down to take the tour.
Interior designer Mat Sanders of Consort Design injected his signature “cool, thrown-together, slightly irreverent style” into every room of this home, but it's Fall Out Boy guitarist Joe Trohman and his wife Marie Goble's bedroom that really took our breath away. The juxtaposition of industrial wall sconce with the feminine blush tones and vintage Persian rug would give anyone the sweetest of dreams.
When Hillary Thomas designed the bathroom in this artful Aspen cabin, she wanted to inject that cool 1970s vibe with a modern attitude. “Nothing says the ‘70s are back like an entire bathroom clad in royal blue mosaic tiles,” she jokes. Who wouldn't want to bathe with that view?
We fell hard for this gorgeous 1891 Arts and Crafts–style home lovingly restored by designer Elizabeth Braha. The living room's elegance and casual charm reflect the home's close proximity to the beach in the seaside town of New Jersey. We love the cohesive mix of blue tones and sweet bird ceiling pendants.
When we snapped Chiara Ferragni's pop-chic L.A. home, we couldn't go past this gorgeous living room. The face of wildly popular fashion blog The Blonde Salad is renowned for personal style, but this glamorous Silver Lake space proves she has a knack for decorating, too. Those 1950s Italian armchairs steal the show.
There is something so cool about the boho-chic style. It feels so lived-in and unedited, even when it's not. We could happily hang in this room filled with vintage treasures, thrift-store finds and IKEA hacks like the white media console. Simply turn an IKEA Expedit Shelf on its side, place it on top of a homemade stand (this one is made from wood), and spray-paint it. Genius.
This stylish dining room could only be the work of DISC Interiors. The Los Angeles–based interior design firm is renowned for its eclectic, contemporary SoCal aesthetic, and this stunning space is no exception. This is a room anyone would be proud to entertain in.
We could cook gourmet meals in this gorgeous kitchen every night. We could see ourselves frequenting this space throughout the day; it just has a very serene and calm vibe about it. That's exactly what interior and textile designer Caitlin Wilson envisioned when she designed this space, a place where her growing family can come together and bond over food.
