Inside a Rustic Home With an Incredible Garden

Inspired by her family’s home in France, designer Karen Fabian set out to create a relaxing home that would perfectly merge her desire for an inspiring exterior with her love of a rustic, vintage aesthetic. Built in 1959, the Newport Beach, Calif. home had a solid footprint with the entire back of the home open to the impressive yard, but needed a few updates to make it right for modern living. Raising the ceilings and adding rustic-looking beams, overhauling the kitchen to add limestone and butcher block counters, sourcing the furnishings from flea markets and global travels, and designing an inspiring outdoor retreat transformed the space into a rustic-inspired home that could easily fit into the French countryside.
