Inside a German Architect’s Modern Home in India
When German architect Niels Schoenfelder went to Pondicherry, South India, for a project 13 years ago, he never left. Instead, he and his wife, Malavika Shivakumar, found a property in a nearby eco-village close to the sea and went to work renovating their dream home. The result is a truly contemporary space with an industrial feel, courtesy of the floor-to-ceiling concrete polished by hand. Every piece was carefully considered to create this "simple and authentic" home, and Niels told Marie Claire Maison that "not a single tree has been felled to build it." Treat yourself and take the tour through this stunning space with photos by Deidi von Schaewen for Marie Claire Maison.
