Gisele's Stress-Relieving Workout Really Packs a Punch

Even the rich and famous get stressed out. From an outsider’s perspective, Gisele Bündchen's life may seem like a never-ending daydream made up of glitzy soirées, exotic vacations, and lazy weekends with her photogenic family. But, as it turns out, the Brazilian-born supermodel needs some good old-fashioned stress relief, too.

But if you think Gisele—who’s worth an estimated $360 million (yes, you read that right)—uses a run-of-the-mill stress ball to relieve her daily pressures, well, think again. In a recent video posted to Gisele’s Instagram, the mother of two is seen training with renowned Japanese MMA fighter Tateki Matsuda.

 

According to Well+Good, Gisele isn’t the only supermodel who uses MMA or boxing as the ultimate stress-relieving workout. Both Gigi Hadid and Adriana Lima have posted videos of themselves kicking butt, and with good reason. Jessica Matthews, an exercise physiologist, told Shape magazine boxing is a “two-for-one cardio and strength workout” because of the way it targets the entire body. “In addition to boosting strength and cardiorespiratory fitness, boxing improves a number of skill-related parameters of fitness, including balance, coordination, reactivity, and agility,” she adds.

In fact, because of the rapid way it burns calories—up to 13 a minute—boxing is comparable to more traditional exercises like cycling and running. Well+Good explains it also gives women a sense of control that can be applied outside of the ring as well. And if it works for Gisele, then it’s good enough for us.
