Inside the Glam-Rock Palace of a Furniture Designer

Sacha Strebe

How do you decorate an 18th-century palace? This is the creative dilemma furniture designer Phillippe Xerri had when he moved into this mind-blowing home in Tunisia. So what did he do? "I gave a glam-rock spirit to this historic home by mixing '50s and '70s furniture, lamp posts, armchairs, and tables," he said.

Built in 1725, the walls are completely covered in ceramic tiles with white marble floors which provide the perfect background for Xerri's fusion of vintage furnishings, crafts, and ethnic and urban décor.
