The Happiest, Most Satisfied Cities in Europe
When talking about work/life balance, Americans often regard our European friends as the golden standard. Their workplaces have required time off, shorter days, flexible work hours, and more. It's all rather dreamy to ponder. Well, now we know which cities in all of Europe boast the happiest citizens, too. Conducted every three years, a European Union survey into the quality of life in European cities has published its findings. We can't say we're surprised… but we can say we would consider a relocation for the sake of adventure and happiness. Polling over 40,000 citizens from the EU's 28 member states, the survey took into account overall satisfaction as well as variables such as satisfaction with city infrastructure (public transport, cultural facilities, public spaces, etc.), employment opportunities, housing, cleanliness, safety, and general trust.
Scandinavia and Switzerland, locales that frequently top similar polls, took the winning spots once more, Zurich, Switzerland (pictured), polling 99% satisfaction from participants. Scroll for a look at the other top contenders.
