Don't Go to Bed Before Doing These 10 Things First—Your Body Will Thank You

Kelsey Clark

Many people treat their mornings as an almost sacred time of personal reflection and "me time," but for the night owls like me, it's all about the nightly routine. Not only does it set the stage for my mornings (since I can never seem to wake up more than 30 minutes before I leave for work), it's also my time to relax, eat a balanced meal, and do something for myself. In other words, it's the first time in the day that I can generally focus on my well-being.

If you're also looking to maximize your health during the leisurely evening hours, look no further than The Zoe Report's list of healthy bedtime habits. Aside from serving as a long-term roadmap to a healthier lifestyle, the following 10 activities relieve stress, both mentally and physically, and prepare your mind and body for the next day. Add the below activities to your nightly routine to make the most of your evenings:

  1. Floss
  2. Meditate
  3. Drink plenty of water
  4. Unplug from technology
  5. Eat a healthy meal
  6. Write in your journal
  7. Catch up on your reading
  8. Take a bath or shower
  9. Do some relaxing stretches
  10. Go to bed early
