5 Nutritionist-Approved Snacks to Keep at Your Desk
I’m a firm believer that if you surround yourself with good food, you will eat good food… even at the office! There are always temptations, and nowhere does this seem to be truer than at work—the combination of stress, boredom, and just having sneaky snacks in front of you can lead to a lot of extra bites throughout the day. So stock your desk (and ideally your fridge, too!) on your own with some of these goodies, and say goodbye to mindless munching of office-supplied treats all day long.
Bazzini's Roasted Pistachios ($20)
At Foodtrainers, we actually give our "nutcase" clients their very own nut cases to fill up and keep portions in check! When it comes to nuts, I love pistachios because they’re an activity food and you can get away with way more (40 pistachios are ~200 calories, vs. 20 almonds or 10 walnuts). Don’t forget the seedy guys! Pumpkin and sunflower seeds are nutritional superstars too.
The New Primal Original 100% Grass-Fed Beef Jerky ($16 and up)
Yes you read that right: Jerky is a protein powerhouse that’s great for that mid-afternoon snack attack. Not all are created equal; we’re not stepping into Slim Jims territory. Look for Vermont Smoke and Cure, The New Primal, and SlantShack Jerky.
Sweet Riot Dark Chocolate Covered Cacao Nibs with Espresso ($3)
There is always office candy lying around, so bring your own sweet snacks in single servings to avoid the temptation. I love tins of Sweetriot Cacao Nibs (they come with super-cute “fortunes” inside) and NibMor Mint Dark Chocolate Squares.
