Tour the Chic Home Office of House of Harper's Leading Lady
Blogger Caroline Harper Knapp of House of Harper recently relocated from New York City to Houston, Texas with her young family. Having only been in their three-bedroom home for five months, Knapp has transformed a space that was once used as a dining room into a home base for her popular lifestyle and fashion blog. Seeking to create a space that would function for meetings, small photo shoots, and, of course, blogging, Knapp created a stylish and livable room that reflects her personal tastes and works within her home’s larger design.

Knapp incorporated feminine accents, bold colors, and fashion-forward patterns that wouldn’t necessarily work in other areas of the home. “My husband doesn’t like me to get too feminine in the rest of the house so this is the one room I could go for it,” Knapp said. “I already had the desk and brass shelf from our apartment in NYC and the first thing I ordered was the pink rug.”
Since the office is centrally located in the home, Knapp wanted the space to be multi-functional. “When the room isn’t being used for an office during the day, it makes for a great sitting room,” she told us. “When we have couples over for dinner or drinks, the girls often end up chatting in here, while the guys are watching football in the living room.”
Lucite nesting tables used as a coffee table are a visual space-saving element in the small room. A Lucite desk chair performs similar visual double-duty.
To make the office more private and quiet when she is working, Knapp added French doors to the space as well as a solid door that leads to the kitchen.
A clothing rack picked up at Pottery Barn Teen is a functional and stylish addition to the room. “I bought it to organize what I needed to shoot, but I love how it really adds a fun element to the décor, as well,” Knapp said.
Knapp's favorite pieces in the room are a pair of bold lounge chairs inherited from her grandparents and which add a wholly personal element to the office’s design. “I love that when I look at the chairs, I am reminded of my grandparents—it’s the best gift,” Knapp said. “The chairs serve as a reminder to always be the best version of myself. Plus, my blog color is the same orange as the upholstery so they were already perfect for the space.”
Most importantly, Knapp designed her office to be a true reflection of her blog and personal taste. “I think the room really embodies the same look and feel as the House of Harper brand,” she said. “It is classic and feminine with some fun pops of personality.” We couldn’t agree more.
