You Can Rent India Hicks's Beach House This Summer

Julia Millay Walsh
Savannah House, the Bahaman home designed by the late famed British interior designer David Hicks, and owned his daughter, India Hicks, could be yours this Summer. After Hurricane Irene recently left the house in shambles, India, a decorator and fashion designer in her own right, stepped in to lovingly restore the property and update the décor. Now, it features a chic combination of classic coastal elements (like acres of sisal), streamlined furniture, and contemporary art. Featured in Coastal Living, the house on the Bahamas' exclusive private gated Windermere Island is available for rental via Home Away for $3,500/week. Steps away from five miles of deserted pink sand beach, the house features a large and sunny dining room; a master bedroom; a bunk bed room; a large, high-ceilinged living room; a guest room; a renovated kitchen; and a fourth bedroom in a separate guest cottage. It also boasts a shady cabana on the beach, an inflatable kayak, and access to the Windermere Club, which offers a heated resort pool, a restaurant, a library, a pool, and two tennis courts. Want to stay awhile? The house has availabilities through December. Click through the slideshow for the full tour and visit the listing for more details.
