Jared Leto's New Laurel Canyon Pad Used to Be a Military Compound

In real estate news we can't say we're totally surprised by, shiny hair extraordinare and Oscar-winning actor, Jared Leto, has purchased a new home in Laurel Canyon for $5 million. Built in the 1940s, the unique property, known as Lookout Mountain Laboratory, was originally used as a military film studio through which atomic bomb testings in the Nevada desert and the Pacific were documented. Today, the historical compound boasts eight bedrooms, 12 bathrooms, a motorcourt, swimming pool, several gallery spaces, and more, bringing the square footage tally to an eye-popping 50,000 square feet (and all of this nestled on nearly 1.5 acres of land).
