Chrissy Teigen and John Legend on Their Dark and Moody NYC Apartment

Sacha Strebe

There is an alluring star quality about musician John Legend and his wife, Chrissy Teigen. Their true love is evident on screen, via social media, in his music (“All of Me” was dedicated to Chrissy), and on the red carpet. But aside from their passion for each other, the loved-up pair share a devotion to design. The Grammy Award winner and his muse worked together on their new Manhattan apartment with Los Angeles designer Don Stewart of Desiderata Design, who also worked on their L.A. home. The one-bedroom, loft-style apartment has a dark and moody vibe with metallic accents, exposed brick, dark ceilings, and stunning rustic wooden wall treatments. “I’d rather have a wall than a view of the Empire State Building,” Chrissy told Architectural Digest. The historic building is located on the border of Little Italy and NoLIta in New York, and “Legend and Teigen were immediately drawn to the unit’s dark, moody atmosphere.” Watch the video to hear the couple talk about their love for dark and rustic interiors, converting the main bathroom into John’s closet, and how they swapped the original white kitchen for a metallic version.
