Exclusive: Inside Kaley Cuoco's Fairytale Holiday Home
If there’s ever a time to add metallics and sparkle to your home, it’s the holiday season. For actress Kaley Cuoco, best known for her role as Penny on The Big Bang Theory, and her interior designer Jeff Andrews, the decision to add glimmer was simple. “Jeff knows my personal taste and style very well. He knows that I love gold and anything sparkly!” she says.
“Metallic tones like gold, platinum, bronze, and silver with white and green accents seem perfectly suited to her home,” Andrews says. “Not overly traditional or childish—just chic and festive.” Cuoco’s home, which Andrews designed, has a rich yet neutral palette, so “the Christmas color scheme embraces and enhances that feeling while adding holiday cheer,” he says.
Whether your home has neutral colors or a bold tropical palette, your holiday decorating “should reflect your personal taste and blend seamlessly into your home décor,” Andrews says. Luckily, that tends to happen organically if you select decorations you’re drawn to.
Hidden in the beautifully curated color palette is a bit of an animal theme. “We have a ton of picture ornaments of our dogs,” says Cuoco. “Since they are basically our kids, they mean the most to me!” Andrews tells us Cuoco’s love of animals and nature inspired his choices in ornaments, woodland creatures in particular. “The trees are adorned with squirrels, owls, pinecones, and gold and silver garlands of bells,” and the trees—yes, there are two!—are accented with pheasant feathers.
For many holiday entertainers, gift wrap is an afterthought, but for Cuoco, it’s like The Emmys. “I love gift wrapping. I hand-wrap every single gift with tons of different trinkets,” she says. “I like to add ornaments to the top of the wrapping, so it’s a little extra gift on top of the gift. In fact, I’ve always dreamed of a special gift-wrapping room!”
This year, Cuoco and Andrews chose to serve a special Champagne cocktail made with fresh pomegranate seeds and Laurent-Perrier Cuvée Rosé Brut.
Cuoco is a natural hostess, so creating a beautiful setting for her get-togethers was important. “I absolutely love entertaining and hosting dinner parties and any family occasion,” she says. Essential to designing the festive scene was mixing it up: “Tradition is amazing, but the holidays are a great time to make new design choices and new memories,” Andrews says. As for Cuoco’s advice for a great party? “Good food, endless drinks, music... and dogs dressed in holiday attire.” Of course.
