Kelly Wearstler Is Singing the Praises of Australia—Here's Why

Sacha Strebe

L.A.-based interior icon Kelly Wearstler is one of the world’s most successful luxury lifestyle brands, with her own furniture, fashion, and jewelry lines. In light of her first visit to Australia this August, Vogue Living shot an exclusive spread of the design doyenne in her Malibu home. The photos, by U.S.-based Australian snapper Nick Hudson, are being hailed by VL's editor in chief, Neale Whitaker, as "some of the finest we have ever published." In this intimate behind-the-scenes video, Wearstler professes her love for the Australian people, the nation's "great design," and her design inspirations.

What she thinks about Australia:

"I think of very nice people, I think of sun, and I think of the beach, and kangaroos and sharks (I'm a scuba diver), and great design. There is so much great design coming out of Australia."

An Australian animal she'd like to see up close:

"The kangaroo and its baby."

Her number one piece of design advice:

"Take risks, to follow your heart, and not to buy all your furniture in one place."
