Inside the Home of a Famed Danish Architect

Julia Millay Walsh

One of the most internationally acclaimed living architects, Danish designer Knud Holscher—who’s considered among the most influential designers in Scandinavia—was born in 1930 and got his start in the studio of famed furniture designer Arne Jacobsen. After launching his own firm, Holscher Design reached worldwide acclaim in both architecture and industrial design, and he’s received more than 70 awards during his 40-year career. Needless to say, when we had the chance to take a peek at how this man lives, we couldn’t resist it.

Yellowtrace recently took us into Holscher’s brick-and-glass home outside Copenhagen, and we were taken aback by its thoughtful restraint, unassuming interior, and clean lines. It’s clear that this is a man who likes things just so—and frivolous accents aren’t quite his cup of tea. Scroll below for a tour.
