First Look: Lauren Conrad’s Elegant Olive Wood Collection
In addition to her thriving fashion label, Paper Crown, Laguna Beach and The Hills alum Lauren Conrad is also the co-founder of a growing global shop, The Little Market, which sells beautiful lifestyle accents, home décor, and fashion accessories made by artisans in developing nations. Today, Conrad and her partner and friend Hannah Skvarla give us an exclusive first look at their olive wood collection.
Le Souk Olivique Olive Wood Rolling Pin ($30)
Olive wood is known worldwide for its durability and beauty. Every piece has natural and unique patterns and is a wonderful addition to any kitchen. At The Little Market, we carry a variety of wood serveware pieces, ranging from olive wood boards to serving utensils—and even honey pots!
Le Souk Olivique Small Olive Wood Rectangular Board ($34)
Our olive wood boards are perfect for everyday use or for displaying crudité and appetizers when entertaining guests. We have traditional round and rectangular boards, or naturally shaped options. We also have several olive wood pieces, such as our cooking spoon and ladle, which look stunning whether in action over the stove, or on display in a utensil holder.
Wood Carvers of Kenya Twisted Wood Salad Servers ($30)
With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, we’ll definitely be pulling out our rolling pins and measuring spoons to do some baking! Many of these olive wood pieces make great gifts for birthdays or bridal showers. Some pairing ideas for gifts (or for your own home!): our heart spoon with a block print apron, or twisted salad servers and a ceramic serving bowl.
Wood Carvers of Kenya Olive Wood Condiment Bowls ($36 for a set of three)
Kenyan wood carvers are recognized worldwide for expertly sculpting art from native woods using sustainable practices. They present the beauty of their natural world in finely crafted decorative and functional art. The artisans, their families, and communities benefit greatly from the sale of olive wood products, such as the heart bowls and heart spoons.
Wood Carvers of Kenya Olive Wood Tea Scoop ($10)
We also carry olive wood from Le Souk Olivique, a new olive wood studio in Tunisia. It is a sister company of Le Souk Ceramique, the artisan group that makes The Little Market’s ceramic collection. The artisans strive to produce the finest olive wood kitchen tools ranging from utensils to boards and bowls and much more. Le Souk sets wages above local minimum wage, provides healthcare and social security payments for artisans, and is in process to receive Tunisia’s Fair Trade certification.
Le Souk Olivique Olive Wood Honey Pot ($28)
At The Little Market, we work to build sustainable partnerships with artisans around the world, by connecting them with customers through an online marketplace. When you use each olive wood piece in your home, you are reminded that your purchase is making a difference in the home of the artisan who made it.
