Shop Lauren Conrad's New Brocade Pillow Collection
Ed. note: In addition to running a thriving fashion label, Lauren Conrad is the co-founder of a growing global shop The Little Market, which sells beautiful lifestyle accents, home décor, and fashion accessories made by artisans in developing nations. Today, Conrad and her partner and friend Hannah Skvarla give us an exclusive first look at their new collection of pillows.
Today we’re excited to celebrate International Women’s Day—and reflect on the remarkable achievements of women around the world. But we also recognize that there is still much progress to be made to advance gender equality, which is why we founded The Little Market. We wanted to empower women artisans around the world by bringing their beautiful goods to a wider audience.
We travel around the world to discover new artisan groups, and we’re always so inspired by their work. One of the groups we learned of during a trip to Mexico this past November was Luchometik, comprised of women who masterfully weave gorgeous textiles on traditional looms.
Six women founded Luchometik in 2013 after realizing that they all had the same desire to find opportunities to improve their lives and create a sustainable source of income. We worked with the artisans to select colors for brocade pillows for The Little Market, but we asked them to choose their own custom design for each color. And after months of product development, we’re excited to announce that we just added their stunning pillows to our site this week—a perfect way to celebrate International Women’s Day!
By providing steady employment, these pillows are so much more than just beautiful decor. They can be the key to helping a woman reach opportunities that her ancestors may not have had.
Today is International Women’s Day, but everyday we celebrate and recognize women’s achievements. We all have a part to play in supporting women’s rights. One way to do it is when shopping—support women-led businesses and buy products made by women. So make a difference by thinking globally and shopping for change!
