Lauren Conrad's New Candle Collection Smells Like Spring
In addition to her thriving fashion label, Lauren Conrad is the co-founder of a growing global shop, The Little Market, which sells beautiful lifestyle accents, home décor, and fashion accessories made by artisans in developing nations. Today, Conrad and her partner and friend Hannah Skvarla give us an exclusive first look at their new collection of candles.
We’re excited to announce our new lineup of soy-blend candles at The Little Market! These candles showcase a variety of fresh, fragrant scents, as well as a new signature look. With our spring collection, we wanted to highlight some of our favorite things about the season, like new blooms. Cherry Blossom has fresh watery notes and a hint of fruit, for a scent that reminds us of the shimmering blossoms of this spring flower. Blooming Garden has all of spring’s earthiest offerings—musk, sandalwood, sharp resins with refreshing herbals, finished with a bit of earth. With fresh scents like Basil, Thyme, and Rosemary, the Garden Collection is inspired by some of our favorite herbs, making them perfect gifts for the green thumb or epicurean in the your life. One of our new personal favorites is Lemongrass, which has a light, fresh citrus scent with earthy notes.
The Little Market Garden Rose Soy Blend Candle ($24)
All of the candles we carry at The Little Market are hand-poured in small batches using fragrances created with 100-percent natural essential oils, and are finished with a 100-percent unbleached cotton wick. The wax itself is made from a clean-burning mixture of food-grade paraffin and American-grown soy wax that is GMO-free, all natural, vegan, biodegradable, non-toxic, kosher-certified, and never tested on animals.

What makes these candles extra special is that each one is hand-signed by the artisan who made it—all Burmese and Bhutanese refugee women working at Prosperity Candle. Based in Massachusetts, Prosperity Candle helps support and build sustainable lives for Burmese and Bhutanese refugees who now live in the U.S. This past December, we visited their workshop, where we got to meet and work alongside the incredible artisans like Moo Kho.
The Little Market Thyme Soy Blend Candle ($24)
In 2008, Moo Kho was living in a refugee camp with her husband and daughter outside of Burma. She was given the opportunity to relocate to the U.S. in 2010, where she joined Prosperity Candle. Today, Moo Kho is a production manager, overseeing quality control and helping to train other refugee women in the art of candle making. In just five years, she has journeyed from refugee with no opportunities and fading hope to senior management with a stake in a U.S. social enterprise. “Everything here has meaning to me, and I love that,” she says. “The wax, the light, and the people.”

When you light one of these candles in your home, you will be reminded that your purchase is making a difference in the home of the artisan who made it. We hope you love the candles as much as we do!
