Meryl Streep Just Bought Our Midcentury Dream Home for $3.6 Million
Legendary actress Meryl Streep has just expanded her real estate portfolio with the purchase of a classic midcentury Pasadena home, Variety reports. Together with her husband, sculptor Don Gummer, Streep closed on the 3087-square-foot home for $3.6 million, a far cry from the $4.125 million asking price.
The three-bedroom, three-bathroom home, which sits in one of Pasadena's most prestigious neighborhoods atop the Arroyo Seco Riverbed, was designed by award-winning but little-known midcentury architects Whitney Smith & Wayne Williams back in 1959. This is the first time the home has exchanged owners in almost 50 years, meaning the residence has certainly held on to its authentic midcentury charm.
Replete with floor-to-ceiling windows, plenty of skylights, wood-paneled ceilings, and tiled walls, the home is just as light-filled as it is texture-rich. Out back, you'll find a swimming pool, a patio, and panoramic views of the famous Colorado Street Bridge.
