There's never a time when we're not up for some shopping, yet these perpetual purchases can take a serious toll on our bank accounts. Since this is a habit we're not willing to quit, we're always open to information about smarter ways to shop. Money recently gathered data from price-tracking sites DealNews and FatWallet to provide a month-by-month guide to the best time to buy anything, and we're sharing a few of our favorite savvy shopping tips by month below.

January. Start the new year with some new home goods. This is the best time to buy bedding, linens, TVs, electronics, and cookware.

February. Refurbish and furnish. Housewares, appliances, and furniture will be bargain buys this month.

March. Splurge on non-Apple smartphones and sneakers for spring. Also, get into the spirit with deals on team apparel.

April. Give your home and garden some attention with discounts on these goods. Prices of auto supplies are also slashed.

May. Prices on home goods and furnishing are lowered for the upcoming summer season.

June. Make it your month for DIYs—home improvement materials and tools are discounted.

July. Keep cool with deals on air conditioners, swimwear, and summer entertaining items.

August. Apple laptops and summer clothing are the deals that close out the season.

September. Outdoor furnishings and last year's iPhone and iPads are on sale in September.

October. Spend some time outside with sales on camping gear and sports equipment. Discounted denim is also an October treat.

November. Give thanks for deals on electronics and video games.

December. Give the gift of gift cards, and treat the tots in your life to discounted toys.
