We've all been there. A particularly gorgeous plate of food is set down before us, and despite our better judgment or the side-eyes from onlookers, we whip out our phone to get that winning aerial shot of our dish. Whether you're a seasoned Instagram foodie or simply like to capture that special meal from time to time, we can all relate to those moments when what we ordered is begging to become immortalized on Instagram.

When it comes to making it onto the photo-sharing platform, not all restaurants are created equal. As recently highlighted by Travel and Leisure, Instagram revealed the 25 restaurants most shared on the app. Most on the list were located in America's biggest cities, with New York and Los Angeles dominating the list. From decadent desserts to juicy burgers to high end, luxe locales, inciting some serious food envy seemed to be the driving force for the Instagram-worthy favorites. Sugar Factory, New York City. With its Wonka-like whimsical creations, it comes as no surprise that this sweet spot tops the list of most Instagrammed destinations.

Nobu Malibu, Malibu. This oceanside restaurant boasts sweeping beach views, perfectly plated sushi, and is known to be one of the most beautiful restaurants in the world.

TAO Downtown, New York City. For dinner or dancing, this Asian-inspired restaurant and club is a Manhattan nightlife hotspot.

Katz's Delicatessen, New York City. A Lower Eastside staple, Katz's serves up sky-high corned beef and pastrami sandwiches in classic delicatessen fashion.

Black Tap Craft Burgers & Beer, New York City. With larger-than-life menu items, including the hedonistic Brooklyn Blackout shake, this burger joint is bursting with opportunities for a photo worthy of all the likes.
