5 Iconic Oscar Dresses That Would Make Killer Room D
The time has come, the Oscar's are upon us! In order to celebrate Hollywood's biggest night, we thought we would honor some of the most stunning gowns to walk the red carpet by comparing their look and style to some equally beautiful interiors. Read on for a glamorous walk down fashion memory lane and get inspired by these similarly gorgeous rooms. Who could forget the shock when Swank walked the red carpet in a seemingly demure long-sleeve dress, only to turn around and reveal the gown's unexpected, plunging back. Similarly, this room, with traditional bones and intricate carved doors, gets the unexpected treatment with modern lighting and a scene-stealing cubist coffee table.
Besides the obvious reference to black and white, we love the repeated linear forms on Roberts' dress and in this guest room at the Danang Sun Peninsula Resort. The gown's juxtaposition of structure and flow is repeated in the gauzy grace of the bed's canopy and the room's hard lines as seen in the furnishings and stripes.
Williams' look references art deco-style in the stunning shape of her gown and necklace, which she paired with an unexpected but beautiful red lip. Similarly, this grand living room from iconic designer Nancy Lancaster makes traditional, formal references to the same time period. The pop of red in the winged-back desk chair is just as unexpected, yet fitting, as Williams' style.
Just like the custom Fromental wallpaper in this chic dining room, we can't take our eyes off of the beautiful embroidery on Berry's dress. In both the room and the gown, red, brown, and green tones unite in a perfectly sophisticated palette with a hefty dose of flair.
This glamorous powder room and Blanchett's stunning Givenchy gown unite lavender and chartreuse tones for a more modern take on the classic complementary color duo of purple and yellow. The texture of the Venetian glass mirror and and vanity's crystal knobs reference the same intricate beading on Blanchett's gown. Glamour all around.
