6 of the Most Stylish Outdoor Weddings We've Seen
Weddings are always special occasions, but there's something about an outdoor wedding that feels even more momentous; with nature as a backdrop, the scene is always set for a beautiful affair. 'Tis the season of warm-weather outdoor weddings, so we thought we'd share some of our favorites we've come across to inspire you if you're in the throes of wedding planning. From an exotic Bali wedding in a breathtaking coastal setting to an intimate Santa Barbara garden party, these big days run the style gamut.
Held at Bear Flag Farm, a private, luxury estate farm and vineyard in Winters, California, this wedding was full of whimsical design moments. As a backdrop for the ceremony, elegant green hedges were embellished with a gradient of vibrant red and orange flowers. Beautiful embroidered and tasseled tents throughout the grounds were a truly special and element that lent additional personal style to an already elegant setting. And throughout the night, a vintage Ferris wheel provided enjoyment for guests—no doubt an unforgettable experience.
At Tirtha Bridal in Bali, Indonesia, the setting of this wedding was as remarkable as they come. Set on the cliff tops of Southern Bali, the venue was an architectural masterpiece with breathtaking views and picture-perfect pools. Inspired by the couple’s unique background (bride is Indonesian Chinese and groom is American with Filipino heritage), the planner combined various cultural elements, including a Chinese tea ceremony, batik patterns (Indonesia), and Capiz shells (Philippines). Using dreamy, elegant pastels like beige, blush, coral, light blue, and turquoise, the design looked more modern and soft than a traditional brightly colored Balinese wedding. We especially love the simplicity of large protea stems in glass bud vases.
Taking place at the historic San Ysidro Ranch in Santa Barbara, this California wedding was an intimate garden party with a soft, romantic palette. Thoughtful details like beautiful linen furniture, gold-rimmed Champagne flutes, handmade seating assignments hanging from a garden gate, and chandeliers dangling from the trees made this lovely event the epitome of European elegance.
Held at the stately Chateau du Martinet in Provence, France, this wedding of an American couple (who got engaged in Provence and fell in love with the area) was as sophisticated as they come. Amid a long aisle of cypress trees, the ceremony setting, with its white folding chairs and flower petal runners, was almost too perfect for words. Dressed in regal formal attire, the guests dined outdoors at long tables with natural linens and Chiavari chairs, a scene straight out of Marie Antoinette.
Held at Annadel Estate Winery in Santa Rosa, California, this rustic wine country wedding had a casual elegance with a welcoming backyard vibe that no doubt made guests feel right at home. With giant old oak trees, an English rose garden, and ruins of an original distillery on the grounds, the winery was a beautiful backdrop for wooden chairs, farm tables, hemp linens, relaxed floors, and DIY details. To top it off, the bride, a chef at Alice Waters’s famed Chez Panisse restaurant, collaborated on an incredible menu inspired by her Sunday-night family dinners, served family-style for a relaxed atmosphere.
Thrown at the dramatically beautiful Conservatory of Flowers in San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park, this urban wedding of a pair of artists was refreshingly modern, inspired, and colorful. A custom yarn ceremony backdrop lent vibrancy and artfulness to the building’s interesting architecture, layers of vintage kilim rugs made for a stylish and eclectic alternative to a traditional runner, and playful details like mini dinosaur place cards created a jovial spirit.
