Drum Roll Please: The 2016 Paint Color of the Year Is…

Genevieve Fish

Sherwin-Williams announced Alabaster (SW 7008) as its 2016 color of the year. “Alabaster represents a straightforward and necessary shift to mindfulness, well-being, and an atmosphere that is pure,” said Jack Jordan, the director of color marketing. “It provides an oasis of calmness, spirituality, and ‘less is more’ visual relief. Alabaster is neither stark nor overly warm, but rather an understated and alluring hue of white.”

We love how alabaster is both elegant and functional as well as comfortable and eclectic. Alabaster is the perfect shade to layer in different textures for a winter wonderland, or leave crisp and minimal for a lighter spring look. It works as an accent color, a nursery backdrop, or even in a bathroom palette. Scroll through for a few of our favorite alabaster rooms.
