The Pantone Color Institute is the indisputable authority on all things color within the fashion and design industries. It goes without saying that the hues its team designates as the It colors of the moment will inevitably show up in our homes—either on the walls or within the décor. Although fall is officially on the horizon as of today, the minds over at Pantone are already looking ahead to spring 2017—a season they envision to be brimming with bright and vibrant hues. Their list of the top 10 colors for spring 2017 includes Niagara, Primrose Yellow, Lapis Blue, Flame, Island Paradise, Pale Dogwood, Greenery, Pink Yarrow, Kale, and Hazelnut.

Pantone Executive Director Leatrice Eiseman drew inspiration from the runways of New York Fashion Week, releasing her company’s calculated color palette a few weeks after. “We looked at each look, and of course for that, you really have to whistle through. But there are certain things that stood out because we’re always looking for color cues,” Eiseman told Women’s Wear Daily. “You have to look at things and ask [yourself], would people say, ‘I love that color. I want it now.’ For us, it also plays into that whole idea of transitional seasons and offering options that are not just typical of seasons.”
