Home Tour: Subtle Purples and Rustic Materials in Paris
A well-selected hue of paint on four walls can be completely transformative (and certainly deserving of praise), but what we wholeheartedly applaud is a single room with a flawless mix of multiple shades -- not to mention an entire home. Such is the case with this house in the 16th arrondissement of Paris, designed by interior designer Elodie Sire of D.Mesure.
Subtle shades of purple and blue dance with dusty roses, hydrangea greens, and soft seafoams in the most elegant manor. Complementing the unusual color palette is an eclectic mix of furniture: an old library card table, a woven African chair draped with a leopard hide, brown leather sling chairs, and a lacquered Chinese dining table, to name a few. They're the kind of pieces one journeys far and wide for, souvenirs that leave a map of their travels from room to room.
Meanwhile, an abundant original art collection brings intrigue at every turn. We can't help but smile at the arrangement of glossy red apples beside the living room sofa; the large-scale nude figurative painting hanging above the stairwell is anything subtle; and the matte-blue classical sculpture in the dining room has a brilliantly odd sense of humor.
