You've probably heard of hygge (pronounced hoo-gah) by now—the Danish term is used to describe the feeling of homeliness and coziness. Since Scandinavian design is making a huge splash on the design scene, it's not surprising that their trends are making their way stateside too. The word saw a 285% increase on Pinterest search in the last year.
"Homes are breaking away from the Swedish-inspired white interiors and crossing over to the dark side with navy and deep blue tones," says our Pinterest expert, with the term seeing a 80% increase in the last year. "A velvet sectional or high-gloss statement wall gives any space modern, moody vibes."
