3 Habits to Adopt in 2017 for the Healthiest, Happiest Year Possible

Kelsey Clark

Despite society's interpretation of it, ringing in the New Year should be less about starting over and more about introducing healthy, realistic habits into your life. For daily rituals that are both healthy and affordable, look no further than Popsugar's new list. Their tips span the emotional to the physical, guaranteeing that 2017 will be your best year yet. Here's where to start:

Movement. Whether you take the stairs instead of the elevator or sign up for a new workout class, adding more movement to your life will bring you joy in the New Year (especially if you work a desk job).

Green tea. Not only does green tea help regulate your metabolism, but it also gives you a boost of energy, relaxes you, and provides your body with essential vitamins and minerals.

Meditation. We could go on and on about the mental, physical, and emotional benefits of meditation. The best part? It only takes five or 10 minutes a day to get started.

Time outside. Getting some fresh air on a regular basis can help clear your mind, strengthen your body, and improve your mood. Plus, you'll elevate your vitamin D levels.

Gratitude. Showing appreciation for all of the many wonderful things in your life is scientifically proven to improve your health. Consider writing a list of five positive things or engaging in five minutes of positive reflection every day.
