Randi Zuckerberg is the founder and CEO of Zuckerberg Media, bestselling author of Dot Complicated and the children’s book Dot, editor-in-chief of digital lifestyle destination Dot Complicated, and host of Dot Complicated on SiriusXM. We sat down with the tech guru and asked her about her favorite apps to help with fine-tuning your holiday etiquette this season. Scroll through for her top choices.
iOS and Android ICE: In Case of Emergency (free)
The ICE app stores your emergency contacts, insurance information, doctor’s numbers, medications, allergies, medical conditions, and all other special instructions in one convenient place. Plus you can put all your ICE info on your lock screen in case of emergency while traveling. Hopefully you won’t have to use this app, but it’s good to have some peace of mind during such a hectic time of year.
iOS and Android RedLaser (free)
With so many great deals out there, you want to make sure you are getting the best option. Redlaser helps ensure you aren’t buying the latest gadget, gift, or toy without comparing prices first! This simple-to-use app can scan any barcode and find which store offers the cheapest price for that item without running around from store to store saving you time and money!
iOS and Android GateGuru (free)
I travel a lot and it can be especially hectic during the holiday season. GateGuru lets you check out the weather, rent a car, find a Starbucks, ATM, or restaurant in the terminal making getting around the airport or your destination so much easier. GateGuru can also tell you just how long you’ll be waiting in that TSA line to ensure you give yourself enough stress-free time to board the plane. Since my husband and I are traveling with our two young boys, this helps ensure we are fully prepared when traveling.
iOS and Android Giftster (free)
Gone are the days of having to guess who wants what for the holidays! Giftster allows you to set up a Secret Santa–like registry with your family or friends to browse through their list of requested gift ideas. Once you buy something, Giftster checks off the items you purchase to ensure presents don’t get duplicated. Don’t worry, they don’t reveal who purchased which item, so it’s still a surprise when they open it!
iOS and Android TimeHop (free)
Forgot what you were doing this time last year? Timehop is a daily time capsule that gives you a glimpse into what was happening in your life years ago. By scouring your Instagram, Flickr, iCloud, and your social media photos, you can relive the holiday seasons with family and friends and see what you saw on the exact same day in the past!
iOS and Android Wunderlist (free)
Wunderlist makes it easy to actually take family and houseguests up on their offer to help this holiday season. Share tasks or shopping lists with the entire family or guest who might be staying with you. You can also dole out the holiday-cooking chores or send specific details about who needs to buy which decorations when. Plus families get updates and reminders on completed and pending tasks, so everyone is on the same page. This is such a lifesaver!
