Restoration Hardware Unveils a MAJOR New Décor Brand

Julia Millay Walsh

Restoration Hardware is making big moves lately. After launching a new teen brand, RH Teen, two weeks ago, the retailer has just unveiled a major new brand: RH Modern. Calling it “the largest curated and fully-integrated assortments of modern furnishings, lighting and décor under one brand in the world”—lofty statement there—RH Modern promises to offer “a level of design that was previously only available via to-the-trade design centers and interior designers,” according to a press release. The brand will define itself by “a minimalist aesthetic and maximum comfort,” continuing to use luxe materials like leather, shagreen, stone, rustic woods, metals, and aged mirror, which Restoration Hardware is known for.

In addition to its online shop, RH Modern will have “significant retail presence, including a freestanding RH Modern Gallery in Los Angeles, the entire ground floor of the Flatiron Gallery in New York, plus entire floors of the brand’s next-generation Design Galleries debuting this fall in Chicago, Denver, Tampa, and Austin.”

The brand has collaborations in the works with artisans and designers like Jonathan Browning, Barlas Baylor, Thomas Bina, Timothy Oulton, and more. And, perhaps most exciting, it will be reissuing iconic midcentury designs from Milo Baughman and others.
