Tour the Ultimate Rock Star Home
Who doesn’t love the chance to get a sneak peek into the homes of celebrities? It gives you a sense of how these famous folks live when they aren’t in the spotlight. Especially intriguing are the homes of rock stars and larger-than-life musicians whose stage personas can sometimes be drastically different than their at-home selves. Of course, on the flip side, some rocker’s homes are exactly what you might imagine, styled with gleaming metallic details, luxurious textures, and the perfect amount of edge. To prove just how diverse these homes can be, we’ve chosen our favorite individual rooms from some top musicians—including Adam Levine, Sting and Florence Welch—creating what we think would be the ultimate rock-star abode.

This bright entry with ethnic and global influences is the perfect space to set the tone for our ideal rock-star home. A variety of materials lends the space an eclectic vibe, while a collection of books on topics ranging from American fashion to luxury hotels sets a tone of global intrigue.
Moving further into our imaginary home, we love the look of Sting’s living room, which features world-class art from Picasso and Matisse, as well as a pair of Yves Klein coffee tables. The modern pieces perfectly contrast with the room’s traditional architecture to give the space a hip yet timeless feel.
We like the unexpected elegance of Fleetwood Mac guitarist Lindsey Buckingham’s formal dining room. Mural wallpaper and crystal chandeliers give the room a sophisticated vibe, the perfect complement to our adjacent living room.
Moving into the kitchen, we’re smitten with Benji Madden’s sleek and streamlined space and know it would be the perfect fit for our dream home. Featuring warm-wood cabinetry and tons of natural light, the kitchen features an unusual layout with no upper cabinets, yet the space is open, airy, and perfect for parties.
In contrast to the formal living room, the man cave escape of Kings of Leon percussionist Nathan Followill features modern furniture, saturated colors, and an impressive wet bar. The basement-level location means the space generally stays dark, making it the perfect place to watch movies and television.
In the London sitting room of Florence and the Machine’s Florence Welch, bright colors and fun artwork create a happy, fresh vibe—a welcome contrast to our basement-level man cave. The built-in shelves house more of the books we saw in “our entry,” and the room’s unusual details, like a purple lamp shade and ikat trim curtains, enable the small space to feel totally unique.
Wanting to add a fresh, airy space to our dream home, we’re drawn to the bedroom of Fall Out Boy musician Joe Trohman. This perfectly airy retreat contrasts with our dream home’s more vibrant rooms, but details like the brass and fuchsia stools, oversized industrial sconces, and eclectic mix of bedding introduce plenty of rock-‘n’-roll personality and edge.
Every major musician is bound to have racked up an impressive collection of clothing and footwear, so it’s only natural that we would add Elton John’s impressive shoe closet to our ultimate home. A glossy ceiling and floor length mirror reflect John’s substantial collection of sneakers and dress shoes in every color of the rainbow.
Craving a spa-like escape, we’re enamored with the surprisingly soft design of Ozzy Osbourne’s bathroom. The floating tub begs to be used for relaxation while the soft-gray wall tile, floral wallpaper, and intriguing black-and-white photography project a soothing, peaceful vibe.
Finally, no rock star’s home would be complete without an enviable outdoor setup perfect for pool parties and late-night ragers. Adam Levine’s terraced space fits the bill and boasts sensational views, perfect for reflecting on just how surreal life in the fast lane can be.
