Shop the Room: Modern Mix Bedroom
If you didn't know your dream bedroom was in a small hotel in Arraiolos, Portugal - then you do now. The Villa Extramuros is a modern haven surrounded by a grove of olive trees and boasting beautiful interiors. This bedroom incorporates all of life's simple pleasures (at least ours); stunning raw materials, modern design classics, and rich textiles. If a vacation isn't in the works, here's how to get this look without crossing international waters. Although this space is sparse, a veritable white box, it's keeping us intrigued with the use of mixed materials. Unadorned white walls are a blank canvas to their more interesting counterparts, like a poured concrete ceiling and honed floor. These elements contrast beautifully to the refined look of a floating marble table, which also doubles as a headboard. The timeless structural materials are matched by equally timeless modern fixtures. Black Flowerpot lights and two Componibili structures used as nightstands, are the work of two twentieth century designers who mastered the medium of plastic, Verner Panton and Anna Castelli Ferrieri. By incorporating these modern pieces into a more raw space, their design becomes even more classic. With all this concrete, black plastic, and marble, the space could feel as cold and sterile as a modern art museum. However, a woven blanket and flatweave rug in rich ruby hues add warmth and character. Backdrop the blanket with crisp white sheets and toss on a cozy heathered cashmere blanket, and you'll be set for some good stylish slumber.
