This Mattress Is a Cheater's Worst Nightmare
If private eyes across America are getting a little hot under their fedoras, they have a mattress to thank, according to TechCrunch. Once the go-to resource for spouses with a sinking feeling that they’re being cheated on, professional gumshoes might soon find themselves on the unemployment line thanks to Smarttress, a new smart bed designed to alert you if your partner is being unfaithful.
Designed by the Spanish company Durmet, the mattress comes equipped with vibration sensors meant to detect any, uh, unusual movements.
The mattress, which will retail for $1750, can link to your smartphone and send you a dreaded “mattress is in use” message when it is, well, in use. The idea is that you can then confront your partner with cold, hard data instead of the usual paranoid hearsay and empty allegations (once you’re done hyperventilating in your office break room, of course).
For the truly masochistic users, the mattress can also provide intricate details in terms of the speed, intensity, and impact at which it’s being used. Though Smarttress is still in the production phase, Durmet spokesperson Antonio Muiño has confirmed its veracity. Cheaters, you’ve been warned.
