The best part about Evernote is that you can use this digital workspace any way you like. We talked to Hillary Kerr to find out her favorite uses for the brilliant app and it turns out the queen of listicles is a huge fan of the tool. "All good ideas end up on Evernote," says Kerr. From daily to-do lists to luxury investments for life, this versatile digital tool is a must-have for the creative, time-deprived woman. Scroll through and learn how to make the most out of Evernote.
Evernote is the perfect place to store recipes and grocery lists. You can keep everything you need all in one place so you never forget an ingredient while at the grocery store. You can cut and paste recipes, take notes, add pictures, and include everything in one note on the app. "The best thing is that the New York Times cooking app and Evernote integrated," says Hillary Kerr. "It's a virtual recipe book for the grocery store. Everything you need is all in one amazing place."
If we could throw a dinner party every night of the week, we would. It's so fun to entertain, cook with friends, and enjoy the lively conversation that bubbles up throughout a night spent with interesting people. Sometimes it's best to give a dinner party a theme, especially if it's a potluck. Use Evernote to keep track of fantastic tablescapes you want to try, recipes for vegetarians and foodies alike, and unique themes that you come up with on the fly.
We suggest keeping two notes for restaurants: one for all the restaurants you love and want to go to again and/or recommend to friends; and another for all of the restaurants that you want to try. "Anytime I read something about a cool new restaurant, I add it to the list," says Kerr. That way when you're traveling, you have a go-to place to look for incredible restaurant reviews. Evernote serves as a knowledge bank for all of your life research so that you don't have to waste time looking up the same things over and over again.
Leave it to Hillary Kerr for this clever trick. Our co-founder keeps home measurements saved in a note on her Evernote. That way whenever she sees the perfect bar cart or side table she knows whether or not it will fit in her space. Shopping for furniture is like looking for the perfect dress. You can never find it when you're looking and as soon as you stop looking, you stumble upon the design of your dreams when you least expect it. By keeping a running wish list of household décor items and the measurements you need for each object, you're ready to pull the trigger whenever you spot that perfect piece.
We've unlocked the key to owning the gift-giving game (not that gift giving is a competition or anything). Do like Hillary Kerr and keep a running list throughout the year of all the things your friends love, hate, and lust after. By the holiday season next year you'll have the most thoughtful presents imaginable. The best place to keep this well-intended scribble? Your Evernote, of course.
We love apps that deliver pre-selected bouquets to friends, but nothing can replace a truly amazing local florist—especially one that you know and trust. Evernote was made for keeping lists of things like the best florist you find in every city, the best dry cleaner, cobbler, seamstress…you get the drift. Wherever you travel, keep note of the resources you find. You'll never know the next time you need to recall that incredible zipper repair man you found in Copenhagen that one time.
Are you the type of person who needs to plan their day to a tee whether it's written down in a Moleskin or saved on your Google calendar? The answer is most likely yes, however, those resources aren't always the best place to manage all of the logistics that go alongside your daily calendar. Maybe you have to pack for a business trip. If you save outfit and packing lists that have worked well in the past in Evernote, your packing time will be a fraction of what you think it is. For Hillary Kerr, packing for a three-day work trip takes her no more than 30 minutes, thanks to Evernote.
