Let's Go Back to Summer Camp

Summer Camp storeAn abandoned gas station built in the 1950's isn't the first place you'd think of going to summer camp. But, Michael and Rachel Graves clearly had what it took to transform the roadside stop into their magical Ojai store, Summer Camp. Located about 80 miles north of Los Angeles, Ojai is a dusty small town famous for its citrus crops and hiding-out Hollywood stars. And although a good glass of wine isn't hard to find (even from a local winery), a well curated boutique is a different story. Summer Camp is a welcomed addition to the Ojai shopping scene and celebrates everything about old-school Americana camping; when a Pendleton flannel could clothe you for a week, a campfire-roasted hot dog and some beans sufficed for dinner, and sleeping under the stars was as exciting as a new iPhone app. In the store you'll find: speckled tin mugs to hold your cowboy coffee, a framed California brown bear flag, handmade jewelry, locally sourced bath products, a set of vintage skis, and many more items that will take you on a backpacking trip down memory lane. If you're not planning on stuffing your rucksack anytime soon, however, you can shop a selection of Summer Camp's goods online. Happy trails.
