Inside the Tranquil Farmhouse of Tata Harper
At the Vermont farm of Tata Harper, rustic finishes and personal mementos mingle with rich textiles and vintage items to create a cozy environment for her family of five. The 1200-acre Julius Kingdom farm is also home to a converted dairy barn, which functions as the office from which Harper runs her wildly popular organic skincare line. “The land drew me to it,” Harper told Lonny. "The views of the rolling hills, the natural beauty.”
Indeed, a love for the outdoors and deep respect for nature can be seen in every room of the property's circa-1820 main house, from the rustic wood floors to the classic antiques. Harper designed the interior herself. “I love hunting for pieces—finding them, negotiating, the whole thing,” she says. “It’s a hobby for me, so it would take the emotion out of it if somebody else did it.” Keep scrolling for a peek inside!
Living on the farm and raising her family in nature benefit not only the kids but Harper's business, as well. “Living around nature keeps me inspired,” Harper says. “Being in such a beautiful place makes you want to continue your environmental efforts. You want to try to be sustainable; you appreciate that what you do supports all of this beauty for the long term.”
