One Creative Director's Tips for Sprucing Up Your Home for Summer
Kristen Lee Cole is well-versed in the art getting your home ready for the summer season. As creative director and co-founder of TenOverSix, a beautifully designed and well-curated home and lifestyle boutique with locations in L.A. and Dallas, it’s basically her profession. The recent Austin transplant describes her home aesthetic as “bright, clean, and modern, with a lot of art and books,” and likewise favors contemporary up-and-coming design brands like Dusen Dusen, Anna Karlin, and Tom Dixon.
When we shopped at the store’s Dallas location in The Joule hotel during our Palm Breeze Endless Escape event on April 23, it got us super excited about decorating for the impending months. Below, Lee Cole shares more of her top tips for getting your home ready for summer with her favorite products to match from TenOverSix.

“I love Ward Roberts’s photography. We’re showing his artwork, available framed, in both our Dallas and L.A. stores now.”
“These are perfect for lemon or cucumber water. It only takes minute to make, and it gives you more reasons to stay hydrated. I love these pastel beauties by Anna Karlin.”
“Simple slides are great for wearing at home and out and about. They’re a year-round staple in L.A., and they’re perfect for people all over the country during the summer. I love our current stock from Maryam Nassir Zadeh.”
“Burning something smoky before entertaining is always nice; it really clears a space. I love our OLO Calcine incense, or some simple Nag Champa or White Sage, available in most health food stores or yoga studios.”
“Put fresh flowers everywhere. I love mine in a quirky ceramic vase. BZippy & Co created this bright lady-fingers series for us that is so great.”
