How NOT to Hang Your Christmas Tree Upside-Down (A Real-Life Story)
I love Christmas and really wanted to do something spectacular with the high celings in our new apartment. So I hung my tree upside-down.
I kept the décor classic because, well, let's be honest...isn't an upside-down tree enough of a statement piece?
I scoured specialty shops for weeks, gathering dozens of handmade ormnaments with a Wes Anderson feel.
I used ombré friendship bracelet string as a tinsel alternative.
And an African textile I recently picked up from the flea market made a handsome upside-down tree skirt.
It was perfect. I sat on the sofa with my partner and our new puppy, admiring our hard work and savoring this new holiday memory.
And then... the tree came crashing down.
That's right. Christmas carnage.
In the morning, I cleaned up the mess, secured the tree, and redecorated it all over again. Because I love Christmas.
The holidays are tough. Hang loose (but not too loose).
