Interior designer Orlando Soria says he was inspired by Port's unique fashion sense when designing the screening room. "She's definitely a California girl, but she's also well-traveled, so there are global influences in the pieces she likes. She's the perfect mix of organic modern minimalism and bohemian chic," he tells MyDomaine.

Soria gave the space a personal touch by combining new Joss & Main pieces with Port's much-loved accessories, like fashion coffee table books and candles. "I wanted the space to reflect both her laid-back personality and her incredible elegance and power," he says. "I did this by creating a base of streamlined, contemporary furniture and overlaying some of Whitney's own eclectic accessories."

Port's love of bright color meant Soria was given free rein to create a statement space. "I sampled eight colors and let Whitney and her husband choose which one they liked best. Colors interact differently with different spaces and light situations, so it's a good idea to test out the color before you make a commitment," he says. They chose Water Drops by Benjamin Moore, a shade he describes as "minty aqua."

One of the room's most distinguishing features is the gallery wall that greets guests at the entry staircase. Port chose a mix of flea market finds and personal photographs, and Soria suggested interspersing larger artworks throughout. Port tells People, "I would have done a bunch of smaller pieces because that is usually how I create my gallery walls, but going for a mix of large and small photos created an awesome backdrop on the stairwell." To balance the eclectic art wall and colorful accents, Soria selected classic furniture pieces such as a cream sofa from My Chic Nest

Soria paid attention to detail to ensure the space could be used practically as an entertainment area. "Window treatments are key for TV viewing spaces. Since this was a screening room for Whitney, I made sure to include some blackout drapery to darken the space while she watches movies," he tells People. Multiple soft seating options and geometric coasters also made the space perfect for Port's next movie night.
