Emily Current and Merrit Elliot have quite the résumé. In addition to styling A-list celebrities like Jessica Alba, Mandy Moore, and Emma Roberts, the duo recently designed a collection of furniture and accessories for Pottery Barn Teen
, have a reoccurring style advice column on Who What Wear
, and are now published authors. Their new book A Denim Story
featuring gorgeous photos by Hilary Walsh
, is a stylish ode to an all-American classic: the blue jean. To celebrate its release, Current and Elliott partnered with vintage-inspired retailer Anthropologie
to host a casual family-style affair at LA's The Hart and the Hunter
. "We really wanted the look and feel of our book to come to life at the dinner," Elliott shares. "It came together through a casual yet thoughtful aesthetic, a sweet indigo palette, and unexpected charming elements."
Naturally, blue jeans played a prominent role in the evening's décor. "We used some of Anthropologie's beautifully unique home offerings, and added our own personal touches to create an environment that reflected our love of everything denim," Current describes. The pair opted to set their tables with custom chambray table runners made from Anthropologie table cloths and custom napkin rings with a bunny ear detail crafted out of vintage denim. A sweet touch, the rings held together natural linen napkins embroidered with the word "Enjoy." Mixed vintage china in assorted sizes, colors, and floral patterns added color to the tablescapes.
Further incorporating their blue theme, white wild flowers, which had been dip dyed and sprayed in a deep blue hue, were arranged in a variety of glass vessels and placed down the length and centers of the tables. To add height and dimension, the pair used tall porcelain and gold Anthropologie candlesticks outfitted with white tapers. Ceramic bunny place card holders with names typed on a vintage typewriter perfectly reflected the laid-back yet chic ambience, which included touches of playful whimsy.
