Any avid online shopper knows that there are few things better than coming home to a new package sitting outside your front door. It's one of modern life's simple pleasures. However, when you open up your package only to find that the shoes you were so excited about don't fit quite right or that there isn't actually enough room for the nightstand you ordered, the thought of returning a shipped item isn't so enjoyable.
The hassle of repackaging the item, schlepping it to a shipping facility, and paying for a new label is enough to make you ignore the chore altogether. If you have a pile of would-be returns sitting in your closet, you'll be happy to know that Amazon just partnered with Kohl's to make the return process so much easier.
Starting in July, Amazon customers will be able to return unpackaged products in person at Kohl's, free of charge. The two retailers have been piloting the program since 2017 and it's currently already available in 100 stores in Los Angeles, Chicago, and Milwaukee. This summer, the program will kick off in over 1150 store locations in 48 states.
“We are thrilled to bring Amazon Returns at Kohl’s to all of our stores across the country,” Michelle Gass, Kohl’s chief executive officer, said in a statement. “This new service is another example of how Kohl’s is delivering innovation to drive traffic to our stores and bring more relevance to our customers,” she continues.
So this summer, online shop with reckless abandon (well, within reason). You'll soon be able to drop off eligible Amazon merchandise to your local Kohl's store rather than making the trip to UPS or FedEx and paying extra for another shipping label. It's completely free even if the products are unpacked and no matter what your reason for returning may be.
